So I've visited almost half of all the places mentioned in David Lebovitz's "The Sweet Life in Paris" because hey, a fellow American who specializes in sweets can always be trusted ;) I've been to G. Detou in the 2nd, Café Pâtisserie et Viennoiserie in the 6th, Laurent Dubois, and I've even been to Merci in the 12th -- recommended by Courtney :) But unfortunately most times, recommendations go unhonored because of the month of August when Paris goes limp. However, I was happy to say that as September reared it's beautiful head, I was able to make up for some lost time. Le Blé Sucré which was just around the corner from my place, finally opened its adorable doors and I was able to take a little peak at the delights within. Sigh. The pastries looked wonderful. I ordered a loaf of bread and a strawberry tart with a white chocolate covered mousse "egg" and strawberry jam on top. (Of course, I didn't know that that was actually what it was at the time, but I found out later) SO delicious :) I re-recommend this place to you, my Parisian bakery searching friend.
