Lessons, Part I

Lessons learned from a fourth-year UCLA (Art) student:

  1. It is nearly impossible, no matter how diligently you try, no matter how non-existant your social life becomes, no matter how face-planted you are in your books, to obtain healthy hours of sleep, to arrive on time to class, and to stay awake in said classroom.
  2. Cauliflower, broccoli, and any sort of fiber cereal gives you really bad gas -- don't eat these things before an important interview.
  3. Read Les Misérables, unabridged. You won't regret it. You will cry your eyeballs out (admittedly, partially because of the daunting task of getting through 1,240 pages), mostly because it's such a beautiful novel.
  4. Back-up your hard-drive. No seriously, back up your f*cking hard-drive. Now. You'll thank me when it crashes. (I said "when," not "if")
  5. Art school teaches you nothing -- only how to lie to people and talk pretty while doing it.
  6. Californian rain is like an unwelcome stranger.
  7. Thank your parents for everything they've done for you. I'm sure you haven't thanked them enough, you ungrateful swine.
  8. Counselors are dumb.
  9. Do NOT study abroad with CEA because they're frauds. (I even rhymed it)
  10. Eat a big breakfast.
  11. These glasses make me laugh:
